LPA FUTURES / MEET THE JUDGES / PART 2
After introducing you to 2 of the LPA Futures judges last week, we’re back with the final 2 judges—this time Jo Hodge, Head of Art Production at Prodigious and Lisa Pritchard, Founder and Owner of LPA. We chatted to them about what catches their eye in a portfolio, what might miss the mark, and what kind of images they’d shoot if they swapped judging for the camera.
Jo Hodge, Head of Art Production at Prodigious
Jo is Head of Art Production at Prodigious, with 15 years experience and a degree in Photography, she now leads high-impact creative productions across fully integrated campaigns. Over her career, she has worked with leading brands including John Lewis & Waitrose, McDonald’s, EE, Nivea, P&G and Skoda consistently delivering work that connects with audiences and brand identity.
1) What will you mainly be looking for in the 3 winners this year, in 3 words?
Innovation, Boldness & Confidence
2) What might put you off in an entry?
Familiarity
3) If you were a photographer, what sort of pictures would you take?
Documenting the beauty of everyday life, through people and things
Lisa Pritchard, founder and owner of LPA
Lisa is the founder of LPA and has been running the agency since 2002. She set up Futures not long after. After a degree in Latin ( no she doesnt know anything about cameras and taking pictures!) she cut her teeth in a photolibrary, then went on to represent photojournalists to the commercial world for a syndication and editorial agency before setting up on her own. LPA represent all sorts of commercial photographers from lifestyle, portrait and documentary to food, still life and fashion. Lisa has also produced a variety of campaigns for many different types of clients, from global brands to niche businesses to charities.
1) What will you mainly be looking for in the 3 winners this year, in 3 words?
Charisma, a Voice, Consistency
2) What might put you off in an entry?
Too much variety. But then again not too ‘one trick pony’
3) If you were a photographer, what sort of pictures would you take?
Captured spontaneous moments of people doing every day things. Although looking at my iPhone roll, there are hundreds of pictures of my dogs and my dinner ( as I like cooking) so maybe a Pet or a Food photographer!
The LPA Futures competition gives emerging photographers the chance to get their work in front of some of the most influential figures in the creative industry.
Alongside a host of incredible prizes, including an agent, the 3 winners will gain invaluable exposure to the industry including to commissioners who could really play a part in shaping their careers.
