NIC KANE / LPA PRODUCTION / CRUK

It was great to be working with long-standing client Cancer Research UK again recently. This time, our brief was to develop a new bank of Cancer Research UK brand photography in a refreshed brand style that focuses on patients’ experience from diagnosis to treatment and living with cancer in a clinical setting.
Our photographer Nic Kane was the perfect choice to bring this brief to life, with her warm, natural approach and un-staged, off-centre style. Her work really does align with the Cancer Research UK photography principles – real, live, active and empathetic.

The multiple-day shoot was produced by LPA Production, sourcing the location, casting the talent, and bringing exactly the right crew on board for this quite specialist shoot.

The project was to portray cancer patients at various stages of their journey, some having examinations, consultations and treatments.
We worked with specialist casting and acting agencies to source diverse talent who could bring a real sense of credibility and inclusivity to the roles they were playing. LPA Production sourced a hospital location with all the necessary areas and paid careful attention to medical accuracy. Medical props such as blood tests, PICC lines and FIT kits were used, with careful planning beforehand and expert advice. We also had on set a medical advisor, nurses, and a GP to ensure the imagery reflected real patient experiences.

It was an honour to be involved in this project, helping Cancer Research UK reinforce their perception as a trusted and credible information provider and their role in helping people beat cancer.
