LPA FUTURES / MEET THE JUDGES / PART 1

The LPA Futures competition gives emerging photographers the chance to get their work in front of some of the most influential figures in the creative industry.

Alongside a host of incredible prizes, including an agent, the 3 winners will gain invaluable exposure to the industry including to commissioners who could really play a part in shaping their careers.

It is our pleasure to introduce you to our 4 judges this year. 2 more coming up next week! We asked them what they will be looking for, what might put them off and what kind of pictures they’d take if they were a photographer.

Rachel Rollinson / Senior Creative Services Manager @ 23 Red

Rachel has worked in Creative Services for nearly nine years. She has cut her teeth here across all production aspects inc Photography, Videography, PR Stunts, Live events, Radio, Animation… the list goes on. She has been at the social impact and behavioural change creative agency, 23red, for the whole of this time and began her career as an assistant working her way up to Senior level. She studied a degree in Textiles and Surface Design at in Newcastle, then worked with those with learning disabilities for a few years, before going on to be an Au Pair in New York. She found her experience supporting others and her creative background, lead her into Creative Services (by accident!) and is happily combining those skills and helping to produce great work at 23red.

What will you mainly be looking for in the work of the 3 winners this year, in 3 words?
Exciting, Brave, Different

What might put you off in an entry?

Someone putting forward an image that they think we want to see, as opposed to what they want to show us! Be brave 😊

If you were a photographer, what sort of pictures would you take?

I would want to capture people’s essence – something where it tells a story of who they really are and what they are about!

Jack Higgins / Creative Producer @ VCCP Blue

Jack is a Producer at VCCP Blue, where he delivers fully integrated 360° campaigns. Before joining VCCP, he gained experience at Ogilvy UK and Sky Creative. Over his career, Jack has worked with a wide range of clients, including Samsung, Vodafone, Sky, Sainsbury’s, Nature Valley, Old El Paso, and Müller.

What will you mainly be looking for in the work of the 3 winners this year, in 3 words?

Impact, Originality, Craftsmanship.

What might put you off in an entry?

I'm not looking for portfolios that feel overworked — I want to see raw images that stand out for their uniqueness.

If you were a photographer, what sort of pictures would you take?

If it were me behind the camera, I’d be drawn to capturing movement — dynamic, action-packed moments, especially in sport — where energy, intensity, and motion tell the story.

Coming up next week, we'll introduce you to the other 2 judges Jo Hodge, Head of Art Production at Prodigious and Lisa, founder of LPA.
