LPA Moving Image / Andy Pilsbury / Gaia Foundation / Ilafur Ni (Our Grains)

In September last year, documentary photographer Andy Pilsbury was commissioned by the Gaia Foundation to capture images and a short film for their project, The Seed Sovereignty.

The Seed Sovereignty project aims to support a biodiverse and ecologically sustainable seed system across the UK and Ireland.

Andy travelled to Pembrokeshire to capture these images and a short film which follows Welsh organic farmers Gerald Miles and Iwan Evans Coedfadre.

The film follows Gerald as he rediscovers the rare Welsh Black Oats that his Grandfather used to grow after searching for them for over 20 years. The Seed Sovereignty project brought Gerald, and Iwan, the last grower of black oats in Wales, together, in order to preserve the heritage of this historical grain.

Amazing work Andy!
